What we use, plainly
Three things, and we would rather tell you exactly what they are than hide them behind a list of technical names.
1. Keeping you signed in
When you sign in, we store a session cookie so you stay signed in while you move around your account. Without it there is no way to have an account at all. It is set by Supabase, the service that runs our sign-in, and it is removed when you sign out.
2. Understanding how the site is used
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to see which pages people visit and where they get stuck, so we can fix the confusing parts. We do not build profiles of visitors who are not signed in.
3. Measuring our advertising
We use the Meta (Facebook) pixel to know whether an advert we paid for actually brought someone here. This one is set by Meta and is the only one on this list that belongs to a company other than us or our own tools.
Being straight with you
At the time of writing, the analytics and advertising cookies described above start when you open the page, before you have had the chance to tell us otherwise. We are changing that, and until we do, here is how you can take control yourself — the section below works today.
How to control them
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most let you do it for one site at a time. Look for “Privacy” or “Site settings” in your browser’s menu. Blocking the analytics and advertising cookies will not affect your account or your documents in any way. Blocking the sign-in cookie will stop you from being able to sign in.
You can also write to legal@expatabogados.com and ask us to stop tracking your visits, and we will.
